Groundwater

This web site will help you take action to protect Oregon's groundwater. Groundwater is used for drinking water, agriculture, industry, and even provides water for streams. If we don't protect this valuable resource we will lose it.

 Do you know about the risks to groundwater in your area?

  • In some areas of Oregon, more groundwater has been drawn by wells than is replaced by rainfall and snow melt.

  • There are parts of the state that have widespread nitrate contamination of groundwater.

  • And, there are localized cases of leaks, spills, or dumping that have polluted the groundwater.
